Holy shit!

Solar Death Ray!

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. If the weather wasn't quite so crappy here, I'd consider making one myself.

I saw a better death-ray site years ago but lost the link.
The guy saved space by using a plain grid array of cheap mirror tiles, which meant he had to prop up 3 corners of each tile to aim it rather than 2 like on the linked page.
He was able to melt coins with it and could ignite paper on even the cloudiest of days.
I pity any nosey passers-by who, wondering what the 5x5 foot square thing propped up against the wall was, removed the black curtain for a peek...

I want to build one in order to make the army regret painting its Apaches matt black. :)

Eeexcellent. I propose we make one when we meet up at the end of may / start of june. We can aim it at chavs' cars.

In my redneck neck of the woods, otherwise known as Texas, we just douse shit in lighter fluid and toss a match at. I do have one friend that goes and buys cans or ether (starting fluid for cars), tapes 6 or 8 cans together, throws them in a camp fire and then shoots them with a rifle. It makes the solar death ray look like a kiddie ride by comparison. He has pictures, maybe I can email them to the ol fossaroo and he can post them, as I am too stupid to do so.

Yes, this sounds good. I will post the pictures. BOOM.

Ether is great stuff.

WowWowWow!

What a freakin' lovely day people. I was out in it all day with me frisbee and the good old ball, bat and stumps. Bloody Pat though and her greeting cards. I paid good money for that cricket set and the ball split.
...And 4-0 against the Paddys. Whoo!
Then tomorrow i'll be eating, injecting, smoking and snorting easter eggs by the bucketfull. I cannae wait.

The weather is lovely here in Spain, however I won´t be building one, as these things do not work, depsite everyone saying they do. I watched a highly scientific TV programme (Mythbusters) where they tried to make one, but weren´t successful. Apparently the soldiers of alexandra used mirrored shields to do this and set fire to Roman ships. Unfortunately, historians were lying, and this doesn´t work. Sorry. ;)
