Plans?

This blog is pretty much dead, but I still own the eatfoss.com domain and will do for a long time as my email address is part of it.

So, what do I do with the domain name?

I have plans. Not sure if they'll come to fruition, but I hope they do. If it fails, I'll only have myself to blame.

And what I have planned will force me to record a proper version of Bitches.

Email to colleagues

As I'll soon be heading west to the gossip-filled hot air balloon that is Unit 3, Jonathan and I (or Foss and Boss, or Foster & Allen if you prefer) thought it might be a good idea to have a few drinks to commiselebrate.

I know it's short notice, but this Friday (26th March) seems the best day to do it. UnFortunately, Friday also brings the return of open mic nights down at the Bell. I will using a guitar and mouthwords - some of them rhyming - to make a prat of myself.

I think it starts around 8 but I COULD BE WRONG. I'll check tonight and get back to you...

Won't you come and laugh at my stupid face?

New musics

I found this band, Dirty on Purpose, via last.fm. I really like them, I hope you do too.

Music

Last.fm is a great place for discovering new music. Right now I'm listening to artists similar to Ambulance Ltd. Amazing!

Still Alive

I learned to play this last night. Then it got stuck in my head, and kept me awake 'til around 3am (that's what it was the last time I checked before I nodded off).

Style and charm

Still getting used to the settings on my new mic...

You've got no style or charm
You've got a thalidomide arm
You remind me of my mum
Just after the crash

Captain Cosmic!!!

Just found this video on my PC. It's an old Captain C*smic and the Daves song, called "Don't Fuck With My Funk".

Awesome!

Also, if you haven't heard Elin's song (in which I sing in a particularly high pitched voice) you should go do that now. Also, I keep fucking up my guitar bit. Woot!

Elin's song

When Elin was here I made a song for her, and she had no idea until I played it at the open mic night. Woots!

Anywayses, today I go my new microphone delivered. It's an awesome USB condenser mic and it cost me a fair bit so it should provide enough motivation for me to record more MUSICS. Now I just need to make a pop shield and work out volume levels and stuff.

So, here's Elin's song. Please remember I can't write anything serious, so this should all be taken in jest. Also, I haven't fucked with the vocals or anything - it's me playing guitar and doing two vocal tracks, without any processing aside from normalising the levels a little. I hope you like it!

Lyrics:

Livelin
There's something I should be telling you
90% of the guys in this pub want to be nailing you

I wish I had the chance
To get into your pants
But that would mean the end
Of me and your best friend

Livelin
Maybe she could join in too
Her and me and you
A threesome would be cool
A threesome would be cool

First of May

I'm gonna have to cover this song at the next thing. It's by Jonathan Coulton and makes me laugh. Lots.

Also, the fan-made video is fucking awesome!

Lullabye

Ok, I posted this song a few days ago and I finally worked out why I think it stands above most comedy songs. It's sooooo well executed. It's not just the lyrics that make it awesome, as is the way with a lot of comedy songs. Watch it, and you'll see comedy timing and facial expressions used to full effect. Stephen Lynch, when I first saw him I thought he was just another comedy performer that isn't really worth watching, but this performance proved me completely wrong. The little smiles, the innocent "wha? me?" snap away from the mic, the soft voice right 'til the stinger at the end (bring home your new mommy) when he goes into full-on happysing. Amazing voice, too... If I ever manage to perform a song as well as this, I will be very happy indeed.

Also: am pissed up so please excuse the gushing. Although this song is awesome when I'm sober too.
